MAGIC, the largest fashion expo in the world partnered with JFW-IFF, the longest running fashion exhibition in Japan, and held the first ever “IFF MAGIC Japan”. This international trade fair for the fashion industries, sponsored by UBM and Senken Shimbun, took place on April 26~28 at Tokyo Big Sight. At this first time event, there were 21,670 visitors and 810 exhibitors, including numbers of brands. Within the event space there were seven zones of goods: EDIT, Men’s, Lady’s, Creator’s village, International & Sourcing, Made in Japan, and fashion goods.
The event is for retail buyers and attendees from Japan and Asia, as well as from other parts of the world. It is a showcase for Japanese designers and brands to promote themselves, not only to the Japanese market but the global market as well. International brands also had a presence at IFF MAGIC, which served as an opportunity to access the Japanese market.
At IFF MAGIC Japan, there is the rare chance for attendees to meet privately with exhibiting companies, in a new approach, the One-to-one business matching service. Attendees are matched with these companies, and in these meetings they are able to have direct discussion with buyers from leading retail companies. It is a chance to present your company and stock to other buyers and, possibly, potential clients. These appointments must be applied for in advance, prior to the event.
One of the goals of IFF Magic Japan is to construct a “stylish environment where you will be able to feel ‘Fashion’ and ‘Creativity’ in a completely different way to any other show in Japan”. The second show will be at Tokyo Big Sight on September 26~28, with an expectation of 850 exhibitors.
