Our company, Japan Fashion Association, supported the 83rd Tokyo International Gift Show, run by Business Guide-sha Inc., which took place in the beginning of February. The theme of “Creation and Discovery” The New Circle of Globalization, encompassed the trade show, which occupied all of the halls of Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center), on its February 8~10 dates. This year, the Gift Show was scheduled alongside concurrently-held trade shows, presenting a 10 day “Gift Show WEEK” from February 1~10, with the slogan of “From Japan’s Largest to the World’s Largest.”
Recently in Japan, the proposition of fashion from lifestyle has become a main trend, bringing together not only clothing, but also miscellaneous goods and sundries, and bringing forth sales power. The gift show reflects this, and is an expanding with an extreme vigor. In addition, the enjoyment of food was also presented, introducing agriculture with local specialty foods from different regions of Japan.
2,597 companies participated, both from Japan and from 13 countries around the world. The show area was very large at 123,110 m2, and there were so many booths and stalls that, for visitors wanting to see everything the Gift Show had to offer, one full day spent there could have been insufficient. The targeted visitors of the Gift Show are retailers, wholesalers, and trading companies in personal gift markets, and 300,000 buyers attended. That being said, you definitely do not have to fit into any of those categories to enjoy perusing all of the goods and displays. Visitors to the gift show included a wide range of people, from the intended audience of buyers, to students and foreign buyers.
So many new and innovative products were on display, with items of a huge range of categories; from Japanese culture, manufacturing, cuisine, and Anime and characters, to living, design, fashion, beauty, and home furnishing, it is hardly likely not to find something that fits your interests! The show was the largest personal gift and lifestyle sundries international trade show in Japan.
